Q:
What does die cut mean? Is there is less excess film around the edges when installing
onto the headstock?
A: Our decals are not waterslide; they're self adhesive
vinyl so there's NO TRANSPARENT FILM AT ALL.
We cut our decals directly from the material they are
sandwiched between a layer of wax paper and application tape, similar to automobile
decals but on a much more precise and detailed level.
Once applied they look screen printed on and are very thin.
Q:
What are the advantages of your die-cut headstock decals to the regular waterslides
I've been using?
A:
The principal advantage is an easy, fast and clean installation, no mess no
hassles. No wrinkling,
warping, cracking, stretching, or bubbling. No water to mess with or worries
when clear coating time comes around. Better design options for the custom guitar
builder. more color options, chrome and mirror gold colors among others choices not available with the
messy waterslide decals.
Q: Can I lacquer over your decals?
A: Request a test strip before using a particular brand of lacquer. Some brands may literally "melt" your decal.
We recommend polyurethane clear coating for added durability. Wet sanding
and re-coating steps may be necessary if your goal is to achieve totally flat
and smooth results.
Some prefer to leave the very thin raised effect for added depth and character.
This depends on your guitar and of course your personal taste.
Q: Are your guitar headstock decals hard to install?
A: Not at all! It's
as easy as peel, rub and peel again. However for a professional finish___ when
in doubt seek a professional.
